Hoof disorders in cattle and sheep are usually the result of a variety of different factors. The production intensity, breeding and breed of the animals in question play an important role as well as housing, feed and hygiene. All too often we only see the problem as a minor one but in reality the losses are much greater. For example dairy cows with hoof problems often experience dramatically reduced production and fertility (longer periods between calves) and the affected cows are far more susceptible to mastitis.
